Gerhard IV Duke of Alsace Upper was born about 1010 in Alsace & Lorraine, France.  Gerhard IV Duke of Alsace Upper's father was Gerhard II Count of Metz and his mother was Gisella of Alsace. He had a brother named Adalbert III Count.  He was the older of the two children.  He died on April 4th, 1070 in Remiremont, Vosges, France.
