His paternal grandparents were Henry II "Curt Mantel" King of England and Rosamond "Fair Rosamond" de Clifford; his maternal grandparents were William FitzPatrick , 2nd Earl of Salisbury and Eleanor de Vitre. He had a brother and two sisters, named William II, Ida (Idonea) and Isabel. He was the youngest of the four children. He died in of Sutton, Northampshire, England.General Notes
