General Notes
! Born 2944 B.C. Lived 950 years. The Great Flood occurred 2344-2343. Followed by the Ice-Age. (See comments below) The correct understanding of the Flood in the first 2000 years is vasic to the understandingo of our own history. The flood is chronicled to have started "In the six hundreth year of Noah's life ...the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broke up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights" (Gen.7:11-12) Some have assumed that the rain lasted only 40 days, but the next verse says "in that selfsame day entered Noah...into the Ark." The record continues: "And the water prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days,...The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped and the rain from heaven was restrained." (Gen.7:24;8:2) This means that it rained for five months! We can safely assume "The fountains of the deep" to mean the water in the earth and in the oceans which were released by subterranean forces creating the tidal waves spoken of be Immanuel Velikovsky (Earth In Upheavel) which traversed continents and caused globel catastrophies. Regarding the "windows of heaven" being opened, there are many theories. Was water brought...from some other place above the earth?" asked Joseph Fielding Smith, "We do not know", he concluded. One plausible theory is that water was produced from hydrogen nebulae from outer space combining with the oxygen of our atmosphere. Joseph Fielding Smith explains the Ice Age theory as follows: The animals spoken of by Sir Henry H. Howorth were frozen at the time of the flood when the climatic conditions of the earth were changed." (Man his Origin and Destiny, p 422-423) Ice is the by-product of water evaporation caused by heavy cloud cover plus earthquake-spawened dust. Noah's descendants lived all in one place until after the destruction of the Tower of Babel, some 150 years later, thereby allowing the formed ice to melt.
