Walter 1st Lord de was born about 1055 in Lassy, Calvados, Normandy, France.  Walter 1st Lord de's father was Hugh de Lacy and his mother was Emma. He had a brother named Ilbert de.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died in April 1084.
