John de was born about 1192 in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England.  John de's father was Roger de Lacy , Constable of Chester and his mother was Maud de Clare.  His paternal grandparents were John FitzRichard de Lacy , Constable of Chester and Alice de Mandeville; his maternal grandparents were Richard de Clare , MCS, Earl of Hertford and Amice FitzRobert Countess of Gloucester. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named John de and Maude de.  He died on July 22nd, 1240 in Stanlaw, Cheshire, England.
