General Notes

!     Born 3378 B.C. Translated age 430. The Bible says very llittle of Enoch, only that he "Walked with God, and he was not; for God took him."(Gen.5:24) Most of what we know of the City of Enoch comes from The Pearl Of Great Price. "And Enoch continued his preaching in righteousness...(and) he built a city that was called the City Of Holiness, even Zion...and lo Zion, in process of time was taken up to Heaven..." (Moses 7:19,21) Brigham Young said, that Enoch "...obtained power to take his portion of the earth...and move out a little while, where he remains to this day." (J.D.3:320, 1856) This is beautifully stated by the great Mormon poet, Eliza R. Snow:

"Thou earth, was once a glorious sphere
Of noble magnitude
And didst with majesty appear
Among the worlds of God.

But thy dimensions have been torn
Asunder, piece, by piece-
And each dismembered fragment borne
Abroad to distant space.

When Enoch could no longer stay
Amid corruption here
Part of thyself was born away
To form another sphere.

That portion where his City stood
He gained by right approved;
And nearer to the throne of God
His planet upward moved.

And when the Lord saw fit to hid
The "ten lost tribes" away
Thou earth, was severed to provide
The orb on which they stay.

A "restitution" yet must come
That will to thee restore,
By the grand law of worlds, thy sum
