He, as "William Heron of Ford, Esq." was slain 20 Jan 1427/8, while with some of his men, attacking the house of John Manners, of Etal, near Ford. His widow Isabel alleged that he had been killed maliciously. She m. 11 May 1432, at Whittingham, Sir William Lumley, of Ravenshelm. She was living 1483, being called Elizabeth in the Lumley inquisitions. William Heron and Isabel his wife had a son and heir John, who m. Elizabeth, great-granddaughter of Roger, 2nd lord of Ford, thus uniting the senior lines, as shown in the text, p. 488. [Complete Peerage VI:486 note (m)]
Note: I can find no trace of "Ravenshelm" or anything close to it. Whittingham was a Heron possession.
