Owain ap was born in 0913 in Dynevor Castle, Llandyfeisant, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Owain ap's father was Hywel "Ddu\The Good" ap Cadell , King of Wales and his mother was Elen verch Llywarch. He had a sister named Angharad verch. He was the younger of the two children. He died at the age of 75 in 0988.General Notes
Owain and his two brothers, Rhodri, d. 953, & Edwin, d. 954, were jointly kings of Deheubarth (Seisyllwg and Dyfed). The youngest, Owain, was sole king from 954.
