Matilda de was born in 1072 in Huntington, Huntingdonshire, England.  Matilda de's father was Waltheof II Earl of Huntingdon & Northumberland and her mother was Judith of Lens.  Her paternal grandparents were Sigurd (Syward) Biornsson , Jarl of Northumbria and Aelflaed of Northumbria; her maternal grandparents were Lambert of Boulogne , Count of Lens and Adelaide of Normandy , Countess of Aumale. She had a sister named Alice de.  She was the older of the two children. She had a half-brother named Waldelf.  She died at the age of 59 on April 23rd, 1131 in Scotland.
