Margaret de was born about 1195 in Huntingdon, Huntingdonshire, England.  Margaret de's father was David Earl of Huntingdon and her mother was Maud of Chester.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Earl of Huntingdon , Prince of Scotland and Ada de Warenne; her maternal grandparents were Hugh de Kevelioc , 5th Earl of Chester and Bertrade de Montfort.
