Ensign Thomas Hulett 
Ensign Thomas was born in 1605 in South Elmham, England. Ensign Thomas' father was William Thomas Hulett and his mother was Margaret Cannon. His paternal grandfather was William Hulett. He had three brothers and a sister, named John, William, Winthrop and Margaret. He died at the age of 72 on December 22nd, 1677 in Topsfield, Massachusetts.General Notes
Winthrop Fleet to Salem, Massachusetts; 1630. In 1633, with nine others w/John Winthrop, son of the Gov., they founded the Town of Ipswich, Ma. He was electe d to the General Court in Ipswich in 1635, and to the General Court from Topsfi eld, MA. in 1665. The layout of the Bellingham Grant in Salem, MA. was made by Maj. William Hathorn & Ensign Thomas Howlett, & confirmed in Oct. 8, 1662. Esta blishment (aggreement) of the village at Enon, the dividing line between Salem & Ipswich was signed by Thomas Howlett & seven others. Ensign Thomas Howlett wa s a carpenter. The term Ensign meant Sargent at Arms.
They had five sons and two daughters, named John, Nathaniel, Samuel, Ensign Thomas, William, Mary and Sarah.
