Otto I "The Great" was born on November 23rd, 0912 in Saxony, Germany.  Otto I "The Great"'s father was Heinrich I "The Fowler" King of the Germans and his mother was Matilda Countess of Ringelheim.  His paternal grandparents were Otto the Illustrious Duke of Saxony and Hedwige (Edith) Princess of Bavaria; his maternal grandparents were Theudebert Duke of Saxony and Ludmilla Ragnhildis Countess of Ringelheim. He had a brother and two sisters, named Henry I "The Quarrelsome" Duke of, Hedwige Princess of and Gerberge Auceps of.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 60 on May 7th, 0973 in Menlesben, Thuringia.
