Elizabeth de was born in 1286 in Upholland, Lancashire, England. Elizabeth de's father was Robert II de Holand , Sir Knight and her mother was Elizabeth de Salmesbury. Her paternal grandparents were Thurstan de Holand and Miss de Kellet; her maternal grandparents were William de Salmesbury , Sir Knight and Avina Notton. She had a brother and three sisters, named Robert III 1st Baron de, Avena de, Margaret de and Joan de. She was the second youngest of the five children.-
