Walter was born about 1275 in Notton, West Ride Yorkshire, England.  Walter's father was William Heron , of Hadstone & Notton, Sir and his mother was Christian de Notton.  His maternal grandfather was Roger de Notton , Sir Knight. He had a brother named Roger.  He was the older of the two children.  He died in Silkstone, Yorkshire, England.
