Maud de was born about 1236 in Ashill, Swaffham, Norfolk, England.  Maud de's father was Henry de Hastings , of Ashill, Sir and her mother was Ada de Huntingdon.  Her paternal grandparents were William de Hastings , of Ashill and Margaret Bigod; her maternal grandparents were David Earl of Huntingdon and Maud of Chester. She had two brothers and a sister, named Henry de, John de and Hillary (Hillaria) de.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had a half-brother named William de.  She died in Corby, Bourne, Lincolnshire, England.  She was buried in St. Mary's Overy (body) Barnwell Priory (heart).
