Halfdan was born in 0730 in Haithabu. Halfdan's father was Harold and his mother was Emhild. His paternal grandparents were Earl Eystein Eystein of Westfold/Halfdansson and Hilda Hild daughter of Eric Agnarsson/Eiriksdottir; his maternal grandparents were Warnechin and Kunhilde Kunhilde of Rugen. He was an only child. He died at the age of 80 in 0810 in Battle in Walcheran, Zeeland, Netherlands.
He had a biological son named Harold.
