Hawise de was born about 0958 in Castle at Guines, Pas-de-Calais, France. Hawise de's father was Sigfried "The Dane" Comte de Guines and her mother was Elisende (Elftrude) de Flanders. She had a brother and a sister, named Ardulf Comte de and Heloise de. She was the oldest of the three children.
