Her paternal grandparents were Rhys ap Tewdwr , King of Deheubarth and Gwladus verch Rhiwallon; her maternal grandparents were Gruffudd ap Cynan , King of Gwynedd and Angharat verch Owain. She had two brothers and a sister, named Gruffudd "Hir\The Tall" ap, Rhys "Fychan" ap and Gwenllian verch. She was the second youngest of the four children. She had a half-brother named Madog ap.-
