Robert de was born in Rotherfield Greys, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England. Robert de's father was Walter de Grey , of Rotherfield, Sir and his mother was Isabel de Duston. His paternal grandparents were Robert de Grey , of Rotherfield and Beatrice de Sculcotes; his maternal grandparents were William II de Duston , Sir and Mary Wake. He was an only child. He died before May 27th, 1295.General Notes
SIR ROBERT DE GREY, of Rotherfield, Somerton, and Hardwick, co. Oxford, Sculcoates and Kettlewell, co. York, &c., son and heir of Sir Walter DE GRFY, of Rotherfield and Somerton, by Isabel, eldest daughter and coheir of William DE DUSTON, of Duston, co. Northampton, did homage for his father's lands 5 January 1267/8. He was surnmoned for Military Service from 12 December 1276 to 14 June 1287, and was summoned to attend the King at Shrewsbury 28 June 1283. On 11 February 1289/90 a commission issued on a complaint of Robert de Grey that his park at Rotherfield had been entered by night and deer carried away. He married Joan, daughter of Thomas DE VALOINES. He died before 27 May 1295. His widow died before 12 November 1312. [Complete Peerage VI:144, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
