Louis I the Pious, King of was born on April 16th, 0778 in Casseneuil, Lot-Et-Garonne, France and his baptism took place on October 6th, 0977 in Germany - aka Lodwig or Louis le Debonnaire (the fair). Louis I the Pious, King of's father was [King of The Fra Charlemagne Emperor of Holy Roman Empir [King of The Fra and his mother was Hildegarde Countess Of Linzgau. His paternal grandparents were Pepin The Short Franks and [Queen of The Fr Bertrada Countess of Laon [Queen of The Fr; his maternal grandparents were Duke of Swabia Gerold I of Swabia Duke of Swabia and Emma Duchess Of ALAMANIA. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Charles The Younger' of, Pippin Carloman King, Cunigunde and Bertha Princess Of The. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Hugo L'Abbe Bastard Holy Roman, Carloman, child of charlemagne and Alpais Aupals of. He died at the age of 62 on June 20th, 0840 in Near Ingelheim, Rhinehessen, Hesse. He was buried in 0840 in Aachen Cathedral, Aachen, Rheinland, Prussia.General Notes

Louis I the Pious, Holy Roman Emperor died on an island in the Rhinenear Mainz, 20 June 840, after supressing a revolt of his son, Louisthe German. Louis' 45-year old son, Lothair succeeds him as
emperor.Louis' 17 year old son, Charles the Bald, succeeds as king of France,and joined his brother Louis the German in resisting the takeover oftheir brother Lothair of all of Charlemagne's kingdom.

Aquitaine at the age of three. In this capacity, after reaching his majority, he established a vigorous Carolingian presence in Spain. His brothers having died, he was crowned coemperor in 813, and
in 814 he succeeded Charlemagne as sole ruler of the
Frankish empire. Louis sought to develop the imperial ideal, working closely with the church. However, squabbles among his sons for greater shares in what was to be their inheritance led to civil
war. In 817, Louis made his eldest son, LOTHAIR I,
coemperor and allocated parts of the empire to his other sons, LOUIS THE GERMAN and Pepin. The birth of another son, the future Emperor CHARLES II, to Louis's second wife, Judith of Bavaria, started
the trouble. Louis's attempts to
provide for Charles precipitated a series of revolts by the older sons. The invasions of Vikings and Muslims further weakened Carolingian power. By the time of Louis's death the empire was in serious

Louis I, "The Pious", Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire in 814 succeeded his father, Charlemagne. In 817, he arranged for the succession after his death by dividing the empire among his three sons.
After his first wife died, Louis married again, and a fourth son, Charles, was born. Louis redivided his empire in 829 in order to give Charles a share. The older sons resented the new division and
revolted. Louis was removed from the throne in 833, but was restored the next year. The bitter struggle between his sons continued until Louis died. The name Louis means "famour warrior."
