Richard 3rd Baron was born about 1311 in Gressenhall, Mitford, Norfolk, England. Richard 3rd Baron's father was Richard 2nd Baron Foliot , of Gressenhall, Sir and his mother was Joan de Braose. His paternal grandparents were Jordan III 1st Baron Foliot , of Gressenhall, Sir and Margery de Newmarch; his maternal grandparents were William VI 1st\Last Baron de Braose , of Gower and Elizabeth de Sully. He had two sisters named Margery and Margaret. He was the oldest of the three children. He died on May 29th, 1325 in Weasenham, Mitford, Norfolk, England (dsp).General Notes
BARONY of FOLIOT (III)
RICHARD FOLIOT, of Gressenhall and Weasenham, son and heir. He married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John DE SEGRAVE, le uncle, of Loddon, Norfolk, by Julienne, daughter and heir of Sir John DE SANDWIZ, of Folkestone, Kent. He died s.p. and a minor, 29 May 1325. At his death any hereditary Barony, that may be supposcd to have been created by the writ of 1295, fell into abeyance. His widow married, soon after 25 June 1331, as 2nd wife, Sir Roger DE NORTHWODE, of Norwood, Kent [LORD NORTHWODE]. She died s.p., 11 December 1335, and was buried in Minster Church in Sheppey: M.L He died 5 November 1361.
His coheirs were his two sisters. (1) Margery, aged 12 or 13, and afterwards wife of Sir Hugh de Hastinges. (2) Margaret, aged 11 or 12, and afterwards 1st wife of Sir John de Camoys. After the death of Margery, widow of Jordan Foliot abovenamed, the lands, &c., which she had held for life of the inheritance of Margery and Margaret were liberated to Hugh and Margery, John and Margaret, 13 June and 11 December 1330. They partitioned their inheritance by charter dated Sundav the Feast of St. Martin 11 November 1330. By two fines, levied from St. Hilary in fifteen days 18 Edw. III, John de Camoys chr. and Margaret his wif,e conveyed their purparty to themselves -and the heirs of their bodies: remainder to Hugh de Hastinges kt. and Margery his wife, and the heirs of the body of Margery, remainder to the right heirs of Margaret. Margaret, wife of John de Camoys, died s.p.. Hugh de Hastinges died 21 July 1347, and was buried in Elsing Church: brass. Margery, his wife, died 8 August 1349.
