Baudouin IX Count (VI of Hainault) of was born in July 1171 in Valenciennes, Nord, France. Baudouin IX Count (VI of Hainault) of's father was Baudouin VIII Count (V of Hainault) of Flanders and his mother was Margaret of Alsace , Countess of Flanders. His paternal grandparents were Baudouin IV "Le Batisseur" Count of Hainault and Alix de Namur; his maternal grandparents were Thierry III of Lorraine , Count of Flanders and Sybil d' Anjou. He had three sisters named Isabella of, Sibyl van and Yolande of. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 33 on June 11th, 1205 in Adrianople on Crusade.-
