Joan was born about 1282 in Arklow, Wicklow, Ireland. Joan's father was (Earl Of Kildare) John Fitzthomas Fitzgerald (Earl Of Kildare) and her mother was Blanche De La Roche. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Fitzmaurice (Of Banda) Fitzgerald and Rohesia De St. Michael; her maternal grandparents were (Lord Fermoy) John De La Roche (Lord Fermoy) and Maud Le Waleys. She had two brothers and a sister, named Gerald Fitzjohn, Thomas Fitzjohn and Elizabeth. She died before May 2nd, 1320.-
