Alan was born about 1126 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Alan's father was Walter FitzAlan , 1st High Steward of Scotland and his mother was Eschyne de Molle. His paternal grandparents were Alan FitzFlaald , Baron of Oswestry and Aveline de Hesdin; his maternal grandparents were Thomas of the Lundins and Miss de Molle. He had a sister named Marjory. He was the older of the two children. He died in 1204.General Notes
