His paternal grandparents were King Henry I Beauclerc of England and Princess/of Deheubarth Nesta ferch Rhiwallon of Deheubarth; his maternal grandparents were Earl of Gloucester Robert FitzHamon Earl of Gloucester and Princess Sybil de Montgomery. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Roger, Hamon, William, Philip, Maud and Mabira. He died at the age of 50 in 1175.General Notes
