Roger was born about 1050 in Biefaite, Normandy, France. Roger's father was Richard "de Tonbridge" "de Clare" FitzGilbert and his mother was Rohese ROHESE Giffard. His paternal grandparents were Gilbert "Crispin" d'Eu , Count de Brionne and Gunnora d'Aunou; his maternal grandparents were Walter "The Elder" Giffard , Lord and Agnes Ermentrude Fleitel. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Walter, Richard, Robert (Fitzrichard), Gilbert FitzRichard, Rohese Fitzrichard, Unknown, Ronais Fitz and Adeliza. He was the oldest of the nine children. He died after September 1131.-
