William was born in 1030 in Poitiers, Poitou, France.  William's father was Osbern de Crepon , Steward of Normandy and his mother was Emma de Ivry.  His paternal grandfather was Herfast (Arfastus) de Crepon; his maternal grandparents were Ralph (Raoul) Count d' Ivry and Albreda. He had a sister named Emma.  He was the older of the two children.  He died in Battle of Cassel, Flanders (killed).  He was buried in Abbey of Cormeilles, Normandy, France.


William's first family with Alice (Adelise) de Toeni

‌William and Alice (Adelise) de were married in a religious ceremony about 1051 in Flanders, Nord, France.  They had three daughters named Adeliza, Isabel de and Emma.


William's second family with Richilde Countess of Hainault
