Her paternal grandparents were Earl of Essex Geoffrey FitzPiers De Mandeville Earl of Essex and Eveline (Aveline) De Clare; her maternal grandparents were Earl of Norfolk & Suffolk Hugh Bigod Earl of Norfolk & Suffolk and Countess of Norfolk Maud (Matilda) Marshall Countess of Norfolk. She had four sisters named Avelina, Maud, Maud and Joan. She had two half-sisters named Margaret and Maud.-
