Robert I was born about 1072 in Malpas, Whitchurch, Cheshire, England. Robert I's father was Hugh "Lupus" d' Avranches , 1st Earl of Chester and his mother was Various Mistresses. His paternal grandparents were Richard le Goz Viscount d' Avranches and Emma de Conteville. He had three sisters named Maud d', Helga de and Geva d'. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had a half-brother named Richard d'. He died on November 25th, 1120.-
