William IV Ferrers , of Groby, Sir 
William IV was born about 1240 in Derby, Derbyshire, England. William IV's father was William III de Ferrers , 5th Earl of Derby and his mother was Margaret de Quincy. His paternal grandparents were William II de Ferrers , 4th Earl of Derby and Agnes of Chester , Lady of Chartley; his maternal grandfather was Roger de Quincy , 2nd Earl of Winchester. He had a brother and four sisters, named Robert de, Elizabeth de, Joan de, Agnes de and Berta de. He was the second oldest of the six children. He had five half-sisters named Isabel de, Agnes de, Maud (Matilda) de, Eleanor de and Joan de. He died on December 20th, 1287 in Groby, Leicestershire, England.General Notes
The Honourable William Ferrers, 2nd son of William, 7th Earl of Derby, obtained by gift of Margaret, his mother, one of the daus. and co-heirs of Roger de Quinci, Earl of Winchester, the manor of Groby, co. Leicester, whereupon he assumed the arms of the family of de Quinci. He m. 1st, Joane, dau. of Hugh le Despencer; and 2ndly, Eleanor, dau. of Matthew Lovaine, and by the former had issue, William, his successor; and Anne, m. to John, Lord Grey, of Wilton. He d. in 1288, and was s. by his son, William.
