Ralph de was born about 1130 in Bromley, Surrey, England. Ralph de's father was Raoul de Chatellerault , Lord of Fay and his mother was Elizabeth Heiress de Faye. His paternal grandparents were Aimery (Almeric) I Vicomte de Chatellerault and Dangereuse de L'Isle Bouchard; his maternal grandfather was Aimery Seigneur de Faye. He was an only child. He died about 1154.-
