Alan de was born about 1120 in Shiplake, Oxfordshire, England.  Alan de's father was Reynold de Reginald , Earl of Cornwall/, Earl of Cornwall/Dunstanville and his mother was Adelina de Lisle.  His paternal grandparents were Henry I "Beauclerc" King of England and Sibyl Corbet; his maternal grandfather was Humphrey de Lisle. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Henry, Sarah FitzRoy of, Maud FitzRoy of and Joan FitzRoy of.  He died in 1156 in Tehidy, Cornwall, England.
