Gospatric II 1st Earl of was born in 1062 in Dunbar Castle, East Lothian, Scotland. Gospatric II 1st Earl of's father was Gospatric I Earl of Northumbria Mormaer Dunbar and his mother was Aethelreda of England. His paternal grandparents were Maldred Lord of Carlisle & llerdale and Aeldgyth (Edith) of Northumbria; his maternal grandfather was Edred Prince of England. He had a brother and three sisters, named Waltheof Lord of, Dorothy Agnes, Athelreda of and Gunnilda of. He was the second oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 76 on August 22nd, 1138 in Battle of the Standard, Northallerton, Yorkshire, England.General Notes
Gospatric de Dunbar, 1st Earl of Dunbar; living c1115, when he seems to have been a signatory to the Charter of Scone by which the Abbey of Scone was founded; killed leading his men of Lothian in Scottish defeat by the English at the Battle of Standard (near Northallerton, North Yorks) 23 Aug 1138.
