Andrew was born about 1225 in Douglas Castle, Douglas, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Andrew's father was Archibald 2nd Laird de Douglas , Sir and his mother was Margaret Crawford. His paternal grandparents were William 1st Laird de Douglas , Sir and Miss Kersdale de Moray; his maternal grandfather was John Craufurd Laird de Crawford. He had a brother named William "Longlegs" 3rd Laird de. He was the older of the two children. He died after 1259 in Hermiston, Midlothian, Scotland.General Notes
