His paternal grandparents were Walter of Salisbury Devereux and Sibilla or Maud Chaworth; his maternal grandparents were Duke Guillaume III of Alencon & Talvas and Heli (Ela) of Bourgogne. He had a half-sister named Isabel of Surrey. He died on April 17th, 1196.General Notes
