Helisende was born before 1052.  Helisende's father was Enguerrand II De Ponthieu and her mother was Adeliza De Normandy.  Her paternal grandparents were Hugh II De Ponthieu and Bertha D'Aumale; her maternal grandparents were Robert I "The Magnificent" Duke of Normandy and Herleva De Falaise. She had a brother named Peter Seigneur.  She was the younger of the two children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Stephen Comte and Judith.
