Roger "the Poitevin" was born about 1054 in Marche, Poitou, France.  Roger "the Poitevin"'s father was Earl of Shrewsbury Roger De Montgomery Earl of Shrewsbury and his mother was Mabel De Talvas De Belleme.  His paternal grandparents were Vicomte D'Hiemois Roger De Montgomery Vicomte D'Hiemois and Emma; his maternal grandparents were Seigneur of Belleme Guillaume II De Talvas Seigneur of Belleme and Hildberg De Beaumont. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Robert II, Hughes, Arnulph, Maud and Sibyl.  He was the third youngest of the six children.  He died about 1123.
