Robert II was born about 1039. Robert II's father was Earl of Shrewsbury Roger De Montgomery Earl of Shrewsbury and his mother was Mabel De Talvas De Belleme. His paternal grandparents were Vicomte D'Hiemois Roger De Montgomery Vicomte D'Hiemois and Emma; his maternal grandparents were Seigneur of Belleme Guillaume II De Talvas Seigneur of Belleme and Hildberg De Beaumont. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Hughes, Roger "the Poitevin", Arnulph, Maud and Sibyl. He was the oldest of the six children. He died in 1119.-
