Gisele was born about 0983 in Bayeux, Calvados, Normandie, France.  Gisele's father was Thurstan De Montfort De Bastembourg and her mother was Juliane Murdac.  Her paternal grandparents were Seigneur De Briquebec Anslec De Bastenberg De Bertrand Seigneur De Briquebec and Helloe De Beulac; her maternal grandfather was Geoffrey Murdac. She had a brother and two sisters, named Hugh I " Barbatus", Adeline and Gisela Bertrand.  She was the youngest of the four children.
