Amaury I was born in 0932.  Amaury I's father was Rainier II Comte De Hainault and his mother was Alice of Burgundy.  His paternal grandparents were Rainier I Duke of Lorraine and Alberade Or Hersent De Mons; his maternal grandparents were Richard "the Justiciar" Comte D'Autun and Adelaide of Burgundy. He had a brother and a sister, named Rainier III Comte and De Hainault.  He was the youngest of the three children.
