William was born in 1159 in Reading, England.  William's father was Walter William II De Cantilupe and his mother was Melette De Dynan. He had a sister named Maud.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 80 on April 7th, 1239 in Reading, England.

They had two sons and a daughter, named William, John and Isabel.
