Anslec De Bastenberg was born in 0937 in Tillieres, Normandy, France.  Anslec De Bastenberg's father was Rollo Thurstan (Brico) Bigod and his mother was Gerlotte De Blois.  His paternal grandfather was Hrollager Ragnavaldsson; his maternal grandparents were Theobald I "The Cheat" Count of Chartres and Richilde De Bourges. He had a brother named Ansfred I.  He was the older of the two children.
