Gisela Bertrand was born about 0978 in Montfort-Sur-Risle, France.  Gisela Bertrand's father was Thurstan De Montfort De Bastembourg and her mother was Juliane Murdac. She had a brother and two sisters, named Hugh I " Barbatus", Adeline and Gisele.  She was the second youngest of the four children.
