Bouchard was born in 0937. Bouchard's father was Alberice DE MONTMORENCY and his mother was Elgifu OF WESSEX. His paternal grandfather was Bouchard DE BRAY; his maternal grandparents were King Edward I "The Elder" Of England OF WESSEX and Queen AElfaeda OF ENGLAND. He was an only child.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
They had a son named Bouchard II "Le Barbu".
