Bernard I was born in 0987 in Toulouse, France. Bernard I's father was Count Adalbert I DE LA HAUTE MARCHE & PERIGORD and his mother was Almode OF LIMOGES. His paternal grandparents were Boso I DE LA HAUTE MARCHE and Emma OF PERIGORD; his maternal grandparents were Geraud OF LIMOGES and Rothilde DE BROSSE. He was an only child.
