Adeliza was born about 1074 in Northamptonshire.  Adeliza's father was Count Hugh DE Creil Of Claremont DE CLERMONT and her mother was Marquerite DE ROUCY.  Her paternal grandparents were Count Renaud DE CLERMONT and Ermengardis DE CLERMONT; her maternal grandparents were Count Hildouin III DE MONTDIDIER, ROUCY & RAMERU and Heiress Alice DE ROUCY DE RHEIMS. She had a brother and two sisters, named Renald II, Ermentrude and Richilde.  She was the second youngest of the four children.

‌Adeliza and Gilbert FitzRichard Of Tonbridge And Cardigan were married in a religious ceremony in 1113.  They had four sons and four daughters, named Gilbert FitzGilbert Of Pembroke and Hereford, Baldwin Fitzgilbert Of Bourne Deeping, Richard FitzGilbert Of Hertford, John "The Marshall", Agnes, Alice, Margaret and Rose FitzGilbert Of Monmouth.
