Adelaide (or Blanche) was born about 0942 in of, Anjou, France, France.  Adelaide (or Blanche)'s father was Foulques II "le Bon" Comte D'Anjou and her mother was Gerberge of the Gatinais.  Her paternal grandparents were Fulk I Le Roux Comte D'Anjou and Comtesse D'Anjou Roscilla (Rosele) de Loches Comtesse D'Anjou; her maternal grandfather was Geoffrey Comte de Gatinais. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Geoffrey I "Grisegonnelle" Comte, Bouchard 'Le Vieux" Comte, Foulques Seigneur, Agnes and Arsinde.  She was the third oldest of the six children.  She died in 1026.

‌Adelaide (or Blanche) and Etienne II were married in a religious ceremony in 0979.  They had a son and two daughters, named Bertrand II, Philippa and Alice.
