Robert De was born about 1084 in Boves, Somme, France.  Robert De's father was Enguerrand I Sire De Boves & De Coucy and his mother was Ada De Roucy.  His paternal grandparents were Sire De Boves Dreux De Coucy Sire De Boves and Adele De Coucy; his maternal grandfather was Sire Of Marle Letard II De Roucy Sire Of Marle. He had a brother named Thomas De.  He was the younger of the two children.
