His paternal grandparents were John de Cobham , Sheriff of Kent, Sir and Maud (Joane) FitzBenedict; his maternal grandparents were Robert de Septvans , of Addington, Sir and Matilda. He had two brothers and a sister, named Henry 1st Baron de, Ralph 1st Baron de and Joan de. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died in 1335.-
