Isabel Fitzgilbert de was born about 1172 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  Isabel Fitzgilbert de's father was Earl Richard Fitzgilbert Clare and her mother was Countess Aoife Eve Macmurrough.  Her paternal grandparents were Earl Gilbert Clare and Elizabeth Isabel Beaumont; her maternal grandparents were King Dermot MacMorrough and More O'Toole.  She was an only child.  She died in 1220 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  She was buried in Tintern Abbey.

‌Isabel Fitzgilbert de and William were married in a religious ceremony in August 1189 in London, Middlesex, England.  They had five sons and five daughters, named William, Richard, Gilbert, Walter, Anselm, Matilda Maud, Joan, Isabel, Sybil and Eve.
